A core part of the Google DeepMind Research Ready experience is the opportunity to lead an independent research project from start to finish. Each intern was partnered with a senior researcher and, with their guidance, selected a project that matched their interests and ambitions. Over eight weeks, students defined their research questions, conducted literature reviews, implemented their approaches, and reflected on their findings – mirroring the full research cycle they would encounter in postgraduate study.
Writing up their work as a research paper was optional, but many chose to do so as a way of consolidating their learning and practicing a skill that is central to academic life. These papers were lightly peer reviewed by the programme team and supervisors, giving interns a taste of the feedback process that shapes published research. For many, this was their first experience of academic writing at this level – an important step in their research journey.
The papers below represent the diverse interests and achievements of our 2025 cohort. Please note that papers may be unavailable where they are awaiting final supervisor sign-off, or are under embargo as part of ongoing research publications.
